On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Jill Bada will transition into the role of Interim CEO, Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC), as of August 9. Tom Hunter will transition into the role of Interim President and CEO at Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) as of July 31.
These interim changes come as Jag Sharma, President and CEO of TCHC, will be moving to a new role in the City. Tom and Jag have worked closely and collaboratively over the past year, and Tom will join TCHC with a working understanding of the opportunities that lie ahead for TCHC. They will work together to ensure a smooth transition at TCHC. TCHC’s Board of Directors has already begun the search process for a new permanent CEO.
Jill comes from the City of Toronto where she has been Director, Strategic Policy and Programs, for many years. Jill has held various senior management positions throughout her career with many years in public service with the City.
Jill was the former General Manager for the Seniors Housing Unit at TCHC. During that time, Jill led the implementation of the Integrated Service Model and the initial work to launch TSHC for the City. Jill is very familiar with and well regarded by many tenants and staff alike. She has the full support of the Board and senior team. Tom will work with Jill to ensure a smooth transition into her new interim role at TSHC. The work of TSHC continues under Jill’s leadership as of August 9.
Since joining TSHC in May 2022, Tom made it his personal goal to meet thousands of tenants and many staff, to learn what matters to them. He will take this focused commitment to listening and learning with him to TCHC, helping to maintain the team’s momentum.
Tom has also led the collective team efforts of TSHC staff to develop an interim strategy, metrics and values for the organization in just 13 short months. He prioritized improving the quality of life for TSHC’s tenants and focused on strengthening working relationships with tenants, staff, service providers, the City and our Board.
Together, TSHC and TCHC are supporting the City and working to strengthen the diverse communities we serve.
