A Message from Our Board Chair

On behalf of the Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC) Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jag Sharma, Deputy City Manager, Development and Growth Services at the City of Toronto, as the City Manager’s designate on the TSHC Board, effective February 5, 2025, until December 31, 2026. 

Jag brings a wealth of experience in both housing and municipal leadership, with a strong commitment to building complete communities and improving housing outcomes for seniors. As Deputy City Manager, he is focused on enabling the faster delivery of housing, especially affordable housing, through strategic partnerships and the City’s Housing Action Plan. His leadership supports Toronto’s efforts to transform its housing system to better serve residents. 

Prior to his current role, Jag served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Toronto Community Housing, where he played a key role in delivering housing solutions for some of the city’s most vulnerable populations. He also held executive leadership positions at the City of Oshawa, first as Commissioner of Community Services and later as City Manager, where he worked to enhance city services and community well-being. 

Jag’s extensive private and public sector experience, including leadership roles at Ford Motor Company, Maple Leaf Foods, and Canada Post Corporation, has equipped him with a unique perspective on service excellence and operational efficiency. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. 

We are confident that Jag’s expertise and leadership will greatly benefit Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation as we continue to provide safe, quality, and affordable housing for seniors.

About Jag Sharma 

Jag Sharma assumed the position of Deputy City Manager for Development and Growth Services at the City of Toronto on August 22, 2023. Development and Growth Services strives to expedite the review of development applications, enable faster delivery of housing, notably affordable housing, and ensure the City is meeting its strategic goals through the centralization of all development and growth-related services. 

Jag’s priorities at the City are to continue to invest in complete communities while fostering partnerships that advance the transformation of Toronto’s housing system to urgently build more affordable homes by striving to meet Housing Action Plan, Housing Accelerator, and Building Faster Fund objectives. 

A passionate and strategic leader with proven success driving service excellence through progressive continuous improvement initiatives, Jag possesses exceptional private and public sector experience from top-tier organizations such as the Ford Motor Company, Maple Leaf Foods, Canada Post Corporation and the City of Oshawa, where he served for eight years in executive leadership roles as Commissioner of Community Services and then City Manager. Most recently, Jag served as President and Chief Executive Officer, Toronto Community Housing. 

Jag holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Queen’s University.
